For some, their days at San Jacinto College after this semester will come to a dramatic end. They will leave the friends they have made and move forward. Some will graduate here and go on to get high paying professional jobs, and then there are those who decide to transfer to a four-year university.

Students have two goals for the upcoming finals. First, study hard enough to make an A or at least do as well as possible.

It's a delight how almost every Friday this semester has been admirably spent accumulating a plethora of knowledge. I learned how to properly clean the interior of a Tundra (making sure to wipe down the dashboard and steering wheel not forgetting the corners where dust likes to hide), and I can proudly say I am able to upload pictures onto Facebook now (since I questioned my ability to do it before).

It is an interesting time we live in. People have become so caught up in competition and being the best that I feel we have lost sight of the true purpose of sports, which is the love of the game and simply to have fun. Perspectives have become so skewed that now we are paying athletes multi-million dollar contracts for juicing up and marital infidelity and our public service men, such as policemen and firemen, next to nothing.

Softball looks to reload for next season after solid year

This year's softball season was an up and down one, but these ladies are looking forward to bouncing back next season.

The Lady Gators finished off with an above .500 season after once being ranked #9 in the nation by the NJCAA. "We have many young freshmens and we're going to make mistakes," says coach Kelley Saenz.

According to a press release from Rob Vanya of the San Jacinto College marketing department, at the Phi Rho Pi National Tournament held in New Orleans, the San Jacinto College speech and debate team based out of the North Campus won gold medals in the Parliamentary Debate and the Team Sweepstakes categories.

This past Friday, everyone's favorite playwright turned 446 years old. Students and teachers celebrated William Shakespeare's big day with food and camaraderie. From 11:30 to 1:30, various activities including a costume contest were conducted in the Courtyard.

Dear Ravyn,

I'm a first year college student finding it hard to focus on what's important. I know I want to finish college, but a lot of things just seem to get in the way. Sometimes I feel I'm just not fit for college, as if things won't work out, and that there are other things I could be doing instead.

Free Comic Book Day is coming. Every year on the first Saturday in May, comic book stores around the world stock toys and comic books to be given away for free to their customers. The publishers determine these free books. Last year, Free Comic Book Day led to the launch of the Blackest Night series featuring the rise of the Black Lanterns in the DC Universe.
